About Our Leaders
Mary Brown has been serving as the pastor of Andrews UMC since 2013. She grew up as part of First UMC in St. Petersburg, FL – a congregation that nurtured her call to ministry. Pastor Mary earned a B.A. in English from Emory University (with an unofficial “minor” in the Outdoor Emory Organization) and an M.Div. from the Iliff School of Theology in Denver, CO (with another unofficial “minor” in snowboarding). Her first job out of seminary was directing a backpacking ministry called Wilderness Trail; the very best part of that experience was meeting her husband, Alan. Mary and Alan have two elementary-school age children together. Pastor Mary recently earned her Doctor of Ministry from Duke Divinity School.
While the pastor in a United Methodist Church provides primary leadership in word, order, sacrament, and service, he or she is far from alone. A wonderful team of staff and lay members offer their time, talents, and passions to the building of God’s kingdom through this congregation. We welcome you to reach out to us with questions or to see how you might get involved!
